Cushing, IA - Fire Department

Community Organization in Cushing, IA

The Cushing Fire and Rescue squad, established in 1895, has 21 all-volunteer trained firefighters and EMTs. We have members who are certified in Firefighter I & II, Hazmat and CPR. The department is commited to helping in the community's time of need. We conduct training meetings at least once per month and attend regional fire schools for advanced training as offered. We cover an area of roughly 50 sq. miles and provide mutual aid for all of Woodbury County and for the communities of Holstien and Battle Creek.

The Cushing ambulance squad was established in 1959 and is currently staffed with 6 trained EMTs and receives support from the fire squad.

The fire department is YOUR department as your donations and tax dollars fund the department's operations. The fire and rescue sqaud is deeply appreciative.

The station can be rented for private or public functions. The meeting room, which is complete with kitchen facilities, can be rented seperately or with the whole building. Call Captain Shawn Joy for scheduling and rates.
