Ruthven, IA - Bully Bullhead Weekend

Festival or Event in Ruthven, IA

Bully Bullhead Weekend is an annual 3 day community-wide celebration of our way of life and natural resources in the Ruthven/Lost Island area. Held each year on the weekend following the 4th of July, the celebration includes a parade, a tractor ride, a kid’s carnival, athletic tournaments, and of course, the bullhead fishing tournament for which the event was named. The celebration was began in 1992 by a group of community organizers who wished to create an annual event that would highlight the assets of our community as well as neighboring Lost Island Lake and the surrounding wetlands. Since its inception, Bully Bullhead Weekend has grown into an attraction that brings in many people from the surrounding communities and serves as a reunion of sorts for those who hail from the community’s past.
