Rose Creek's first general store was built in 1873 on the northeast corner of Third and Main Streets. In the 1920s, William Holmquist was the proprietor, followed by Maurice Halverson from 1949-1965. "Chuck" Schammel then operated the store until he retired in 1977, who sold it to Tom & Sandi Gilson. Don & Mavis Lenz purchased the store from the Gilsons, who in turn sold to Brenda & Chris Landherr. Brenda's Market was in business from 1988-2011. Luke Hanson & Stacy Erkeneff ran L&S Grocery for a year, before Heidi Olson purchased it Nov. 5, 2012. Even with yet another change in ownership & name, Brenda's Convenience continues to be at the heart of downtown Rose Creek. Hours are 8 AM - 6 PM during the week, & 8 AM -noon on Saturdays.
