In July of 1980, Gordon Diekman and his son, Kyle, opened Diekman’s Jewelry in its current downtown Alexandria, MN location.
Gordon had owned another jewelry store locally throughout the 1960’s, into the early ‘70’s before reopening. Unfortunately, Gordon suffered a heart attack and stroke just a few months after opening, and sadly, he died before the first year was through.
Diekman’s Jewelry was then operated by Kyle Diekman, with help from his mother, Elaine. His sister, Kari Anderson, also helped out with things like engraving and restringing pearls. When Elaine remarried a few years later, Kari took on additional responsibilities.
