Farmers Mutual Insurance Association is a property insurance company located in Hull, Iowa. The company was started in 1886 by a group of farmers wanting affordable insurance protection for their farmsteads against the perils of fire and lightning. Their concept of a mutual insurance company that is owned by the policyholder has been very successful. Our product line has expanded to provide coverage for many additional perils and Farmers Mutual currently has over 11,000 policyholders with insured property value in excess of $5 billion.
Farmers Mutual is dedicated to providing prompt claims service with our own local adjusters. Our adjusters work closely with local contractors and implement dealers to provide prompt, professional service at the time of a loss.
Farmers Mutual currently has policyholder surplus in excess of $27 million which helps in maintaining a stable but adequate rate structure. We are reinsured with Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company, an ‘A’ rated company by AM Best. Personal and Farm liability coverage is provided for our policyholders through agreements with Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance and IMT Insurance Company.
