My name is DJ Dan. My wife Cathy and I are excited to present to you Hindsight Cafe & Tolerance Wine Bar (Est. 2020). If you are ever in South Eastern Minnesota, please come by and say hello! We are currently still under construction, but have BIG plans for this enterprise.
I have been a DJ for 20 years and a vinyl collector for 30, and I have always wanted a 'final act' for my collection. I realized it was time to act in the Spring of 2019 when we learned we had to move out of our long time residence in Uptown Minneapolis. Through a series of cosmic connections this 100 year old building is becoming our paradise.
We are currently planning to roll out several different phases of operation. First, we want to open as an event space. One that features the option of a built in DJ package for your entertainment, and eventually food and drink package options. Next, we want to open a morning coffee shop with Jazz, Blues, and Soul playing on vinyl as well as delicious snacks. Finally, we envision a wine Bar named Tolerance for weekend evenings with nice fellowship, special events, speakers, live music, as well as tantalizing small plates and craft cocktails. Down the road we plan to turn our lower level apartment into a basement 'speakeasy' featuring swing era tunes and the like.
We envision a place to hear poetry, open mic nights, speakers on music, essays and discussions, live music and of course DJ sets of well manicured, curated music by the legends of the 20th century. An American fabric has been woven, through the Blues, Jazz, Soul, Funk, R&B, Hip Hop, Rock and Reggae. A textile that draws us all together and informs us about ourselves and each other.
