Business in Glenwood, MN

There's nothing like a milestone birthday to put things in perspective. For Karina Mork, that's exactly what started it all as she wrestled with the thought, “If I could anything in the world, what would it be?”

The answer to that question was a retail shop, planted in Glenwood, Minnesota (a place she'd never even been) and it would be called MECO7.

Nothing shy of a leap of faith, she moved over 180 miles to open MECO7 in the fall of 2012. The original space was a mere 400 square feet of retail space which she shared with a custom frame shop, Twelve Dozen Framing. Here she offered painted furniture, home décor and gifts.

Less than a year later, after training under the frame shop owner, Dave Gross, Karina took over Twelve Dozen and custom framing became part of the MECO7 offerings.

Six months later, Ann and Larry Stensrud, owners of The Valley Troll, approached Karina about taking over their Scandinavian Shop located across the hall from her store. With strong Scandinavian roots herself, it seemed like a great fit and soon MECO7 expanded to include The Valley Troll in the spring of 2014.

Fast forward to today, MECO7 & The Valley Troll is still family owned and operated and we continue carry the original lines of painted furniture, home decor and gifts, plus traditional Scandinavian goods, and of course, custom framing. Additionally, we have expanded by carrying new furniture, including our best-selling line of customizable upholstered chairs, couches and sofas. We are also a stockist for the best paint in the world, Annie Sloan’s Chalk Paint®.
