In 1995, Kay thought she'd like to learn how to quilt. Unfortunately, there wasn't a shop in Windom to help her learn. (How was the town surviving?) After talking with her husband, who owned and operated a feed mill, he offered to give up his office to remedy this problem, and Prairie Quilting was born!
Prairie Quilting is still located adjacent to the Peterson Feed Co., but has seen changes since its beginning. Early on Kay realized more floor space was needed, and the building was expanded. The quilt shop now houses a wide variety of quilt patterns and books, quilting notions, rulers, and approximately 3000 bolts of fabric.
