In 2008, owner and operator, Lorie Melhus, decided to leave her event planning business and pursue retail. Coming from a special education background, she felt confident that she could think outside the box and offer something a little different than the average store.
Starting with a shop emphasizing in home decor with a twist and a small year-round Christmas section, we have come a full 360 and now offer gifts for all occasions, emphasizing humor. We dropped the year-round Christmas when Lorie’s first granddaughter was born and now devote over half the store to baby and children’s items.
Lorie prides herself on searching for the unique gifts, those that you can’t or won’t find in most stores. Unique, charming, fun, and a full sensory experience is how many describe Silver Lining.
