The Ute Volunteer Fire Department was organized on February 5, 1906. The department has made tremendous progress since the early days when the only equipment was hose carts or buckets. Construction of the new Fire/EMT Station was completed in 2015. There are 6 bays for the Fire and Ambulance vehicles and a room for meetings and training sessions.


The Ute Ambulance Service, a branch of the Ute Fire Department, was initiated on June 13, 1978. The committee raised money to purchase equipment and a vehicle. The first ambulance was ordered on November 5, 1979 and it arrived in December of that year. On March 3, 1980 the original committee was dissolved and it became officially the “Ute Ambulance Service”. The new unit was ready for service on April 1, 1980. Presently the Ute Ambulance Service has 4 EMT’s and 2 Drivers.
