Gowrie, IA - United Methodist Church

Gowrie, IA

The Gowrie United Methodist church has been making disciples for the transformation of the world for over 146 years.  From the outreach and hospitality of the annual 4th of July chicken dinner, to spiritual formation through Bible and book study opportunities, and reaching out to the poor and marginalized locally and around the world through mission projects and financial giving. The Gowrie United Methodist church is committed to responding to the reconciling love of Jesus Christ by inviting, receiving and accepting all persons in Christian love.

Although we recognize that the church is not a building, a building can be a useful tool for the ministries of the church.  In 1952, through the dedication, hard work and prayers of faithful parishioners, GUMC was blessed with our beautiful building, well-suited to our traditional worship experience with enough modern touches to move forward wherever the future may take us.  In addition, in 2002, our fellowship hall and kitchen were added to the building.  This space is perfect for church and community dinners, outreach and educational events, fellowship opportunities and gatherings of all kinds.

In July, 2017, we welcomed Pastor Susan as our 43rd pastor. Pastor Susan considers it a privilege to serve here! Her talents, passion, joy, and dedication are wonderful additions to the legacy of many pastors over the years that have helped us to grow in love, truth and faith.

It is with gratitude and hope that we look forward to the future; to developing a closer relationship with our savior, to building stronger relationships with each other, and to transforming the world, one day… one soul, at a time.
