Church is a funny thing. In America we have equated it with buildings, music, prayer and sermons. If we were to look at what Church was for the first disciples almost two thousand years ago we would see ἐκκλησία (ekklēsia), a group of people gathered for the same purpose. For us that is to worship Jesus the Christ, and partner with one another to be disciples who invite others to be disciples. Discipleship is simply someone who looks to Jesus as their Lord, teacher and one to whom we want to be like. We gather on Sunday mornings to worship, learn, and spend time with one another as a group of people focused on Jesus. Come as you are for that is how God loves and accepts you.
