The history of St. Teresa Catholic Church of Mapleton, Minnesota began around 1857, The first Catholic families settled in Daville Township east of the present village of Mapleton. In 1876, the first church of brick material was built at the present site and land for Calvary Cemetery was purchased in 1878. By 1902 the church was enlarged. In 1922 a new sanctuary, sacristy and bell tower were added. In 2000 an addition was built which included a gathering space with an elevator, accessible bathrooms, and a meeting room/classroom. In 2013 the entire interior of the Church was beautifully restored and enhanced giving this lively parish a like new worship space.
The parish has had their own resident pastor for many years until 1995 even while occasionaly being paired with other parishes. St. Teresa has been a part of the Tri Parish cluster with St. Matthew and St. Joseph since 1989. In 2007 the parishes again gained a resident pastor and are currently served in this manner.
