Rushford Lutheran Church is people gathered by God’s Word and Sacraments sent to make Christ known to all persons, and to serve all people.
Rushford Lutheran Church (RLC) is a member of the Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC). We are free in Christ, accountable to one another, rooted in the scriptures and the Lutheran confessions, and work together to fulfill Christ’s great commission to go and make disciples of all nations.
What We Believe
We believe in the Triune God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe that God created us and all that exists.
We believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; and that Jesus Christ is the Word of God, who comes to us in the form of a human being. Our salvation comes to us by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ, God’s Son, our Lord.
We believe that we are called to faith by the Holy Spirit, we are enlightened by the Gospel and that our lives are directed by God as we come together to worship, study, and pray regularly as a Christian congregation.
We believe and teach that the Old and New Testaments of the Bible are the inspired Word of God and the authoritative source and norm of our life, as individuals and as a congregation.
History
God’s call to worship and stewardship has been strong from the beginning.
The first Lutheran worship, by people who would organize Rushford Lutheran Church, took place on June 15th, 1855. The first pastor was called four years later, and the congregation was formally incorporated in 1861.
The congregation has continued to grow, and in 1906-1907 the current building was built at the corner of Mill Street and Rushford Avenue.
The congregation has been served by 20 pastors in the last 14 decades. Rushford Lutheran Church now has 961 members representing 408 families.
