Holstein, IA - Avenue of Flags

Point of Interest in Holstein, IA

The Avenue of Flags was started as an Eagle Scout project by local Boy Scout, Michael Perrett who enlisted the help of the Post 225 American Legion. Flags were sold in honor of military veterans with connections to Holstein.

Each 5-feet-by-8-feet flag is mounted on a galvanized aluminum flagpole standing eighteen feet above the ground. Flagpoles are spaced twenty feet apart and are fitted with Neverfurl (nylon mounts that prevent the flags from wrapping). Each flagpole is labeled with the veteran’s name, rank, branch of service, and the military period or campaigns served in. The cost for each flag set is $175.00.

If you would like to include your veteran or veteran’s in this patriotic salute in honor of their service, please contact Burdette Conover, 712-368-4481. The Legion along with community volunteers will continue to raise and lower the flags.
