Nora Springs, IA - Veteran's Memorial

Point of Interest in Nora Springs, IA

The Veteran's Memorial is located on North Hawkeye Ave. It was dedicated to the city in 2002 by the Nora Springs Veteran's Memorial Association. The memorial has members from all branches of the military listed. In May of 2016 Jacob VerHelst dedicated a Gold Star Mothers plaque as part of his Eagle Scout Project. The Gold Star Mothers is an organization that was formed in 1928 and named after the Gold Star that families would hang in their windows to honor a deceased veteran. The organization is to honor the mothers that raised those who fought for our country. Currently the city owns the memorial but the Nora Springs Veteran's Memorial Association maintains it. If you are interested in adding a name to the memorial in honor of a deceased family member, please let a member of the Association know.
