Windom’s park system consists of 13 parks which cover approximately 123 acres. The parks system includes the Windom Recreation Area (28 acres), construction was completed in 2005, which consists of three softball/youth baseball fields, a baseball field, soccer/flag football field, and 1.35 miles of walking trails. Island Park, which includes a camping area, is located along the Des Moines River. Other popular facilities include Kastle Kingdom and a skateboard park which are located on the south end of the Windom Recreation Area.
City Parks: the City of Windom operates 13 parks encompassing 123 acres that are administered by the Park & Recreation Board, appointed by the Windom City Council.
Lakes & Rivers: The Des Moines River and Cottonwood Lake provide many recreational activities.
Playgrounds: Playgrounds are available in many of our city parks including Tegels Park, Abby Park, Kastle Kingdom and more.
Park Shelter: Reserve park shelter for group gathering.
Recreation Department
The Recreation Department oversees the local swimming pool and all recreational activities and programming.
Recreation Programs: Youth and Adult sports programs, community education and library classes/programs.
Swimming Pool: A large olympic size outdoor heated swimming pool is located in Island Park. Swimming lessons as well as water aerobic classes are available.
City Arena: includes two ice skating rinks (1-200′ x 85′ and 1-45′ x 165′), two racquetball/wallyball courts, archery range, and an indoor batting cage.
