About Cyrus, MN

CYRUS was incorporated as a village on March 16, 1899, and platted in 1881 by O. H. Dahl and Charles Olson on their 1866 homestead, who set aside part of the land for a village. It was first called Scandiaville but changed in 1882 when the post office, requested by first postmaster M. Frank Cronquist, who built a store in 1881, was established as Cyrus, a name suggested by Olson.
