About Gladbrook, IA

Gladbrook is a town of 1000 people that is “Alive and Growing.” Located in central Iowa, it is about 45 miles SW of Waterloo, 20 miles NE of Marshalltown, and 60 miles NE of Des Moines. The community is well known for a strong base of volunteers and community service.

The Gladbrook City Centre houses Pat Acton’s Matchstick Marvels Tourist Center which has drawn tourists from all over the United States and many countries. The City Centre is also home to the Gladbrook City Hall and the Gladbrook Theater. Our community’s most recent fund drive raised approximately $85,000.00 for the purchase and installation of digital and 3D projection equipment and a new “silver screen”.

Within the last 2 years the Gladbrook-Reinbeck Community School District and the City of Gladbrook joined efforts to build the new Crayon Corner Learning Center facility. Located north of the elementary school, it provides a safe learning and daycare environment for infants through elementary school ages.

The City of Gladbrook is currently in the middle of a 1.325 million dollar water system improvement project that includes areas of water main replacements, water pump upgrades and a new 150,000 gallon water storage tower!

These are just a few of the exciting things happening in our community. We hope you stop in town some day as you are traveling by!
