Hankinson was founded in 1886, and the post office has been in operation since. The city was named after R. H. Hankinson, a local land owner. Hankinson welcomes you to our friendly city. Hankinson is a vital, civic-minded community located 60 miles south of Fargo near the junction of Interstate 29 and Highway 11.
