Located on the eastern border of Vernon County at the bisection of State Highways 33/80/82, Hillsboro is a gateway to the non-glacial West-Central Wisconsin region. Activities in the area include sites on the Kickapoo and Baraboo Rivers, Wildcat Mountain State Park, Vernon County Round Barns, and Amish settlements, and a host of community events including celebrating its Czech heritage with the Cesky Den festival, where residents celebrate being the “Czech Capital of Wisconsin.” The City also offers a number of public parks for recreational activities, including the extremely popular Hillsboro State Bike Trail that connects to the historic “400” State Trail and the Elroy-Sparta Trail.
