LOUISBURG, a city in section 33 of Lake Shore Township, was platted on September 12, 1887, by Ole Thompson and William R. Thomas and incorporated as a village on November 2, 1905; it is said that Ole Thompson, who owned the land of the townsite, named it for his father, Louis Thompson, who had settled in section 34 in 1876.
