The City of Mora, Kanabec County, Minnesota, is located 72 miles north of Minneapolis and St. Paul at the intersection of Minnesota Trunk Highways 65 and 23. It is also 52 miles northeast of St. Cloud and 91 miles southwest of Duluth. Mora is the crossroads of East Central Minnesota.
The County Seat of Kanabec County, Mora is nestled on the edge of the northern forests, alongside the Snake River in East Central Minnesota. It was incorporated as a village on May 19, 1882 and was designated a city by state statute in 1973. Mora currently operates as an Optional Plan A Statutory City which is a strong council/weak mayor form of government. The citizens of Mora elect a mayor and four council members to four year staggered terms.
