About Olin, IA


The City of Olin, population of 698, is located in Jones County. We can be found on Highway 38 CENTRALLY LOCATED BETWEEN Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Davenport and Dubuque.

Olin is the oldest town in Jones county, founded in 1835. what would become Olin started out as Rome, which was platted in 1842. the name changed to Olin in 1868. Olin has the Wapsipinicon river winding around its North and eastern borders, offering boating and fishing access.

Olin annually hosts the Jamboree, has a spacious community parks, and hosts many community events throughout the year. Information regarding these and other attractions may be found on this website.
