O’Neill is the Holt County seat and the largest of the county’s communities, offering the most goods and services. Designated the “Irish Capital of Nebraska,” O’Neill is home to the world’s largest shamrock, famous Irish Dancers, and the yearly St. Patrick’s Day Celebration.
O’Neill has a population of around 3,500 and has a strong plan for growth. In April, 2004, the City adopted a new Comprehensive Plan, an Economic Development Strategic Plan, and an updated blight study. O’Neill is a city of opportunity and is poised for growth and prosperity into the next century.
Living in Holt County is a slice of rural, small town life. We are a regional community of fewer than 12,000 living in small towns and on family farms. We are people focused on working together to create a bright future.
