Welcome to Rhinelander, located in Oneida County, WI – the heart of the Northwood’s of Wisconsin! Rhinelander proper has a population of around 8000 residents and it stands as the retail hub of northern Wisconsin and upper Michigan; bringing the year-around population to around 50,000.
Both the Wisconsin and Pelican rivers run through Rhinelander. Boom Lake is located within the City having a lovely park, shoreline, swimming beach and boat launch. Rhinelander has recently constructed another boat launch on the Pelican River. While in Rhinelander make sure you visit the Northwood golf course, an 18-hole public course with clubhouse and restaurant located just at the edge of the City. Rhinelander is home to Pioneer Park Historical Complex which boasts a railroad and logging museum right in the heart of the City. If camping and hunting are to your liking, there are numerous possibilities for those activities throughout Oneida County. When visiting, make sure you take note of the numerous Hodags located throughout the City of Rhinelander as well.
A Mayor and eight-member Common Council govern the City of Rhinelander. The City provides a wide range of municipal services, including police and fire departments, water and waste water utilities, public works, parks, library, animal shelter, and general government services. While in Rhinelander come visit our historic City Hall built in 1908-1909.
