In 1898, the Spring Hill New Era guessed that Spring Hill would "soon be the hottest little town in Eastern Kansas."
It took about a century for that prediction to come to fruition. Spring Hill has more than doubled in size since 2000, and for several years was the fastest-growing city in Johnson and Miami counties.
Today, it's one of the top five fastest-growing cities in the entire Kansas City metropolitan area.
Founder J.B. Hovey picked Spring Hill for many of the same reasons our residents have moved here in recent years. In a letter, he lauded the City's excellent location and resources as his reasons for choosing Spring Hill's original town site as a good place for a town.
Like Hovey, today's settlers have noted that Spring Hill's location can't be beat - it's close to the metro for easy commutes and urban amenities and shopping, but just far south enough to enjoy the quieter pace and close-knit community spirit of a small town.
Hovey was drawn to the area's abundant natural resources. Today, Spring Hill is rich in excellent schools, affordable housing, ample recreational opportunities, and historic charm that have drawn record-setting droves of new residents to our community.
With tremendous momentum building in our housing, industrial, and commercial sectors, today's Spring Hill residents and leaders are eyeing the future much like our earliest settlers - with bright enthusiasm and optimism.
