Minnesota’s Danish Heartland
Velkommen til Tyler! Tyler is situated in Lincoln County 28 miles southwest of Marshall, Minnesota; 37 miles east of Brookings, South Dakota; and 170 miles southwest of the Twin Cities. Tyler is the home of the Danebod Folk School. Early settlers of the Danebod colony founded a residential school in the Danish tradition of Folk High Schools and fostered the concept of “learning for living” by which individuals sought to become enlightened and thoughtful citizens. Danebod hosts many wonderful programs including annual week-long recreational Family Camps and the Folk Meeting which presents a series of world-renowned lecturers. Aebleskiver Days is Tyler’s yearly celebration, held on the fourth weekend of July. The event is named after the aebleskiver, a spherical Danish pancake.
