Wilton is a city in Beltrami County Minnesota. Wilton is considered a bedroom community of Bemidji. Wilton, a city in sections 33 and 34 of Eckles Township, incorporated on May 26, 1906, was named for some one of the 15 or more villages and towns of this name in the eastern states, Canada, and England. The post office was first named Selkce, 1900-1903 (Eckles spelled backwards), and then changed to its present name; the site is also shown as Eckles and Eckels on various maps. The Great Northern Railway had a station in section 33, and the Soo Line had a station in section.
