Kee Kafe is where you can get a home cooked meal, fresh baked goods, daily specials, Broaster Brand Chicken, special order baked goods and much more.
A number of people have owned an/or operated the café since it was built in 1940. The late Jack Lavine was its first proprietor after its construction. Ray and Evelyn Harmon followed the Lavine's ownership, and it was during their tenure that Kiester old-timers, most now deceased, fondly recalled a very exclusive "card room" in the café's basement! Adval and Gert Trustem took over after the Harmans, running it through the 1950s and into the 1960s. Ervin and Delores Trytten became proprietors. Roger Oldfather purchased the café from them in 1967 and ran it until 1977, when he sold it to Julie Wigern. Julie put both her heart and soul into the establishment, moving it forward until 2003, when Brandon and Jean Hagenson became owners and operated until 2006. Jerry & Michele Alphs purchased the building in 2013 after it had sat empty for several years. There was an electrical fire in August of 2013, but they were able to salvage some tongue & groove siding from the original 1940’s décor which is now their chair rail, baseboards, and it also lines the walls of the restroom. They reopened May of 2014, and been going strong ever since. With their daily morning coffee crowds, and the occasional traveler just checking to see if Kiester is actually a real town from the Preparation H commercial! Yes yes they are!
They offer everything from fresh baked buns, breads, rolls to decorated cakes, cupcakes and more! Kind of mini bakery in their café! They have home cooked meals M-F for their noon lunch, or you can order from their menu which also features Broasted Chicken! Check out their full menu.
Oct-May they have all you can eat soup night every Thursday from 4:30-7 and Every 2nd & 4th Sundays of the month. They have an all you can eat Breakfast Buffet from 9:30-1.
During the summer months look for their food stand at area events/festivals.
And don’t forget to check out their catering menu! They can cater for any amount of people! The favorite is their pulled pork!
