Pipestone Area Chamber & CVB

Community Organization in Pipestone, MN

We invite you to connect with tradition at Pipestone National Monument and experience the tranquility of the quarries held sacred by Native Americans for centuries. Watch artisans who keep alive the art of hand-carving pipestone. Walk the scenic paved Circle Trail along the pink Sioux Quartzite ridgeline, and stand at the 1838 Nicollet Expedition marker above Old Stone Face and Winnewissa Falls. Shop a variety of authentic Native American pipestone crafts at the Visitor’s Center and nearby gift shops.

In addition to the Monument, explore so much more in Pipestone! See the World’s Largest Peace Pipe, stroll among classic cars during a Summer Car Cruizin’ Event, and take the self-guided walking tour of the Historic Downtown District. Accompany costumed guides for the Pipestone Ghost Walks (Saturday evenings Memorial Day Weekend – Labor Day Weekend). Learn through Living History at the Pipestone Civil War Days (2nd weekend in August, even numbered years).

The arts are alive and well in Pipestone!  Take in a show at our Pipestone Performing Arts Center --- from nationally-known performers to vibrant community theater productions to regional choral ensembles. Reward the foodie in you with made-from-scratch pies, mouthwatering pizza, delicious burgers, and other culinary treats at a variety of family-run restaurants. Shop our charming boutiques, antique stores, and gift shops with friendly customer service.  For outdoor lovers, pedal the prairie on Casey Jones State Trail (bike rentals available), or retreat just south of town to Split Rock Creek State Park to fish, kayak, and canoe.  If you’re traveling with children, a visit to the Pipestone Family Aquatic Center is a must!  In additional to modern hotels, you can stay at a historic hotel or even sleep in a tipi at the campground.
