America's history can be traced in Benton County. From the prehistoric era that carved these rivers to the modern times that saw man-made dams control those rivers, Benton County is a window to American History.

The county was organized January 3, 1835, and named for U.S. Senator Thomas Hart Benton of Missouri. Its county seat is Warsaw, and other towns in the county are Cole Camp, Edwards, Ionia, Lincoln, and Mora.
