Deuel County is located in the northeastern part of South Dakota, along the Minnesota border and has a population of 4,364.  The county consists of 7 towns and 16 townships, with Clear Lake as the county seat.  A list of town officers and township officers can be found at the links below.

The county has one hospital, Deuel County Memorial Hospital, which is located in Clear Lake.  Also located in Clear Lake is the Deuel School District, which is the county's largest school district.  Other school districts that lie partially within the county borders are; Deubrook, Grant-Deuel, Estelline, Waverly, Watertown, and Castlewood.  Taxes are collected and distributed to each school district monthly.
