Dodge Center a city of Wasioja Township, sections 33 and 34, founded in 1866, was platted in July 1869, and was incorporated February 29, 1872. This name was proposed by D. C. Fairbank on account of the location at the center of the county. A bill was submitted to the legislature in 1870 requesting the name be changed to Silas; however the bill was tabled, and the name remained. The city was reincorporated on June 7, 1907, and separated from the township on March 19, 1918. The post office was established in 1867. The first passenger train arrived here on the Winona and St. Peter Railroad, July 13, 1866; it had a station of the Chicago Great Western Railroad.
