Rock Rapids is located in extreme northwest Iowa, at the junction of Iowa Highway 9 and US Highway 75 32 miles southeast of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and only 15 miles south of Interstate 90. Our 2,600 residents enjoy the benefits of small town living with easy access to the larger communities of Sioux Falls, the Twin Cities, and Omaha. We invite you to take a look around our web site, but we hope we get the chance to meet you in person!
Rock Rapids is proud to host many events and promotions. Every January, we host our annual meeting and vote for new board members. The Farm and Home Show each March gets everyone out of the house for some free food and a chance to see what’s new with the merchants. Heritage Days every June is our community celebration. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life runs every summer too. In mid-July, you can get in on ridiculous bargains at Crazy Day. The Lyon County Fair is the “best four days of summer.” In October, we host the Tri-State Art Show. We round out the year with some great Christmas promotions every year.
There are many recreational opportunities for all ages in the area. Fishing, swimming, soccer, baseball, skate park, softball, museums, snowmobiling, ice skating and more are all available in Rock Rapids.
