About St. Leo, MN

ST. Leo, a city on the line between Omro and Burton, "was named after the church, and the church was so christened in honor of Pope Leo". The church, built in 1896, is commemorative of Saint Leo, the first Pope of this name, A.D. 440-461, who is surnamed "the Great." The city was incorporated on June 6, 1940, as a village. The post office was established in 1880 on Valentine Lenz's farm in section 32 of Omro and moved into the village in 1900.
