Our Rich Heritage...
Trinity
Lutheran Church was established on October 28, 1870 as the Norwegian
Evangelical Lutheran Trinity Church. The congregation began to build a
church in 1878 and it was dedicated in 1888. In 1913 a parsonage was
built. Ground-breaking for our present building on the original site
took place in 1949. It was completed and dedicated on May 20, 1951.
Originally,
all services were conducted in Norwegian. The first English service was
held in 1916, changing completely to English in 1945. We are now a
congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), the
Southwestern Minnesota Synod, and the Watonwan River Conference. We are
governed by a Church council, which consists of both men and women
who are elected by the members of the congregation at the annually
meeting held each January.
